McClellan-Clark House Restoration
The restoration of the McClellan-Clark House began on Valentine's Day 2002 when our 1885 Queen Anne was moved across the street. Now in its 8th year, there are still things to do. The inside is mostly complete, still remaining is the installation of one stained glass window. The basement is under construction at this time.
The Carriage House is in the process of receiving its outside doors to cover the windows that face the courtyard. The doors will have cast iron hinges typical of a barn door. We have finished one set and will resume building the other two this summer. See Work in Progress for details on what Rodney might be working on in regards to the house. Our carpenter, Gary Hootman, has finished the built-in cabinets and drawers under the stairs. We now have a place for the refridgerator, microwave, bow books and cases. Many plans are being made to finish our 1700 sq. ft. basement. Drywall is almost done! The full bath has been painted and is ready for fixtures. Lights, pedestal sink and medicine cabinet have been restored and will be re-used in the bathroom.
Future plans include a cupola and lightening rods for the carriage house. Antique lightening rods with amber balls have been purchased, but require some restoration. Rodney plans on designing the weathervane for the top of the cupola.
