Aaro Paavo Heinonen

Bassist- Aaro Paavo Heinonen is Currently Principal Bassist with the Grammy-nominated Santa Fe Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra, Aaro Paavo Heinonen has performed in the music capitals of the world, recorded with several record companies, including Decca, and performed with the major soloists and conductors, including Levine, Slatkin, Leppard, Rostropovitch and McGegan. He served as the Principal Bassist of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra for 22 years, where he was featured as soloist and conductor in both classical and pops concerts. Highlights include playing a concerto in collaboration with conductor Neemi Järvi, and performing in a BBC special with Itzhak Perlman, as well as participating in several PBS specials. Aaro Heinonen has worked with most of this generation’s established composers and has performed chamber music with members of the Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony, and numerous quartets and ensembles. In addition, he has played solo recitals, given pre-concert lectures, and conducted both professional and student groups. He has also performed with opera and ballet companies, as well as several period instrument ensembles. Heinonen had a long association with the Aspen Music Festival, where he performed with the orchestras, was featured as soloist, and performed chamber music and contemporary music. He also played Principal Bass with the Kansas City Philharmonic (now Kansas City Symphony), performed at the Grand Tetons Festival, Music in the Mountains Festival, and played Principal Bass with the Colorado Music Festival. At recent International Society of Bassists conventions, he was featured as a soloist and gave a masterclass.

He graduated from Indiana University School of Music. B.M. Bass studies with Murray Grodner. He attended the Aspen Music Festival did bass studies with Stuart Sankey. Aaro graduated with Distinction in Bass Performance from the Indiana University School of Music, where he was a solo contest winner, principal bassist, assistant to Murray Grodner, and studied piano, composition and conducting. He has been on faculty at Indiana State University and the University of Missouri.

His currect instruments are a Antonio Pedrinelli. 1840 and a Domenico Busan. 1761. Aaro has three Rodney D. Mohr bows. One bow was commisioned.

Sarah Juzwik-GlennViolinist- Sarah Juzwik-Glenn was the concertmaster of the Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra and was concertmaster of Regional Orchestra for two seasons and followed up with a top chair in Ohio State Orchestra. She also won the concerto competition for the Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra and performed the Dvorak Romance. Sarah is a violin performance graduate of Baldwin Wallace College and a graduate of Longy School of Music. She attended Encore Summer Music Camp and Brevard Summer Camp. Sarah is Assistant Manager of Education and Community Programs for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She uses a Rodney D. Mohr bow and a Greg T. Alf violin.

 

Ross Harbaugh

Cellist- Ross Harbaugh is cellist with the Bergonzi String Quartet. He studied with Janos Starker, Leonard Rose, Peter Howard, and Andre Navarra. He earned B.A. and B.M. degrees from Bowling Green University, with post graduate studies at Indiana University and Paris Conservatory. Ross has been using a Rodney Mohr cello bow for several years. He is Associate Professor of Instrumental Performance at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida

 

 


Arie Lipsky

Cellist- Arie Lipsky was born in Haifa, Israel, Mr. Lipsky received extensive training as a cellist. He is conductor of the Ashland Symphony Orchestra. Arie is active as a cellist and chamber musician. He studied with Leonard Rose, Pablo Casals and Alan Harris and graduated with distinction from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Mr. Lipsky has performed as a cellist with the New Arts Trio since 1996 and is Director of Chamber Music at Chautauqua.

 

 


Stephen Upshaw

Violist- Stephen Upshaw, 21, is a senior at the New England Conservatory of Music. An experienced orchestral musician, he has served as principal violist of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, the World Youth Symphony Orchestra and the New England Conservatory Philharmonia. Mr. Upshaw was a featured soloist with Orchestra Atlanta as the winner of the Ruth Kern Young Artists’s Competition, earned top prize in the AFM Young Musician’s Competition, won the Georgia division of the ASTA competition and placed first in the ASYO Scholarship competition twice consecutively. As a chamber musician, he has appeared twice in Boston’s Jordan Hall, New Hampshire’s Anderson Hall, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art and Holland’s Radio Kootwijk. Festival appearances include: The Heifetz International Music Institute (NH), Interlochen Center for the Arts (MI), and Music Academy of the West (CA). Stephen recently returned from Holland, where he was principal violist of the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands, performing concerts in Copenhagen, Apeldoorn, and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. A native of Atlanta, his principal teachers include Dr. Marilyn Seelman, Carol Rodland, Donald McInnes and his present teacher, Martha Strongin-Katz. He has also participated in masterclasses with Kim Kashkashian, Michael Tree and Pinchas Zukerman.

Daniel Broniatowski

Violinist- Daniel Broniatowski was born in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, violinist Daniel Broniatowski has performed in many parts of the United States and Europe. He has had the privilege of studying with some of the world’s most eminent teachers, schooled in the Russian virtuosic technique of violin playing. Dr. Broniatowski holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in violin performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston, and a Masters of Music degree from the Royal College of Music in London. He has also completed a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at Boston University, where he was accepted on full scholarship to study with Yuri Mazurkevich.

As a musician of diverse interests, Daniel Broniatowski has had varied experience in performing solo, chamber, and orchestral music. He has performed in many venues, such as Carnegie Hall, New England Conservatory of Music's Jordan Hall, and Cleveland’s Severance Hall. Mr. Broniatowski has a particular interest in performing Jewish inspired Classical music, as is represented in his repertoire. Of special personal significance, Daniel Broniatowski has performed with the Philharmonia Czestochowa in Poland, playing Bloch's "Baal Shem Suite" with Michal Nesterowicz conducting. This was in collaboration with the World Society of Czestochowa Jews and their Descendants.

Kristen Herbert

Violist- Kristen Herbert uses a Rodney Mohr bow and a Mark Womack viola. Kristen is a viola major at Indiana University, studying with Alan de Veritch. She is studying to become a music educator with a concentration in viola performance. Recently, she has performed with several orchestras in the central Indiana area and has toured with Barry Manilow.
