Ann MohrAnn Mohr studied violin with Cleveland Orchestra Concertmaster Daniel Majeske. She attended Indiana University School of Music as a Violin Performance major where she was a student of James Oliver Buswell IV. Ann is a graduate of the Chicago School of Violin Making, during which time she was the Assistant Concertmaster of the Chicago Civic Orchestra and Concertmaster of the North Shore Symphony. Her musical studies have made her a critical partner in the bow making business. Rodney refers to her as “quality control.”
Ann and her husband Rodney opened their own business, Mohr & Mohr, Violin & Bow Makers, in 1985 in North Central, Ohio, where they make and restore string instruments and bows. Since moving back to Ohio, she has been Assistant Concertmaster and Principal Second Violin of the Ashland Symphony, a member of the Mansfield Symphony and the Wooster Symphony.
Ann has served as Personnel Manager, Librarian and Executive Director of the Ashland Symphony and is currently treasurer of the Center Street Historic District Association, past treasurer of the Ashland Care Center, and past secretary of the Ashland County Historic Preservation Alliance. She has completed the Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program from the Ohio State University and is now working on her BS in Business Accounting through the University of Phoenix. Ann and Rodney live in a fully restored 1885 Queen Anne Victorian home in Ashland, Ohio with their dog Zora.
ZoraZora is a ten year old shepherd-beagle mix. After having lost her long time companion and mentor Dawn in February 2010, she has proudly stepped up as the new head of security for Mohr & Mohr. She paces the grounds on a regular basis keeping a watchful eye out for strangers. Should Ann and Rodney welcome you into their shop, Zora will greet you with excessive barking. To keep Zora at ease, please Schedule an Appointment.
